Fly Fishing in Hilton Head
The best sight casting is the fall and winter months of course! Hilton Head Island is steadily becoming a fishing center of the Lowcountry. All kinds of inshore South Carolina game fish can be caught in Hilton Head depending on the time of year.
As water temperatures drop, huge schools of redfish group and get "staked up" in the clear waters of the Lowcountry mud flats. Redfish weighing from 10-20 pounds can be found hundreds at a time eager for a properly placed fly. Are you up to it?
In the Spring, the curious fish Cobia can be found in numerous areas around the Lowcountry while they are swimming just below the water's surface. Female Cobia reach beyond 70 pounds, but will probably average 20-30 pounds. (considered a decent catch for almost any fisherman). Catch them while they are hunting for their prey.
The Summer time will consist bluefish, jack cravelle, ladyfish and Spanish Mackerel. Bonita can also be targeted mile offshore.
